A long weekend called for some simple DIYs and additional Christmas decorating. Come see how I decorated my picture ledge for winter.
If you've been following along for sometime, you know I made THIS picture ledge earlier this year. I have thoroughly enjoyed switching up this space each season.
To continue with my neutral feel for this space, I removed all pictures from the picture ledge with any color. With coziness as my primary goal all year long, especially in the winter, I made THIS DIY 'Let's Get Cozy' sign the focus,
I mixed in neutral pillow covers and throw blankets to continue the neutral cozy feel down from the picture ledge, into the rest of the space.
Please don't mind my couch, this is a sectional that we recently separated. I am excited to say we have finally ordered our new sofas that will be here next week. We went with a lighter color with washable slipcovers, because DOGS. We are loving the light coloring of our recliners, which can be found HERE.
With a picture ledge, you want to use mixed sizes when layering your pictures and signs. Using neutral colors can be mundane, but the variation in size helps create interest.
Growing up, my dad listened to Louis Armstrong and I remember always loving the song, 'Wonderful World.' After seeing THESE peel and stick poster sticker letters at the Dollar Tree last week, I knew a simple DIY sign would be perfect for this space. This sign required a scrap piece of plywood, some green paint (see my go to green paint HERE), a piece of chalk and those stickers. I may eventually add a frame but for now, I am enjoying the simplicity.

This vintage macrame chandelier is one of my absolute favorite thrift store finds. I still can't believe I scored this for $3! A lamp is one of my staples for creating a cozy space and I just love the shadows this reflects onto the ceiling and the walls. I found an alternative option HERE.
To create further interest, I tucked spare trimmings from my Christmas tree in the picture ledge, behind the signs. If you don't have a real tree, I suggest checking out a nearby tree farm or even going to the wood to find some scrap trimmings. Don't be afraid to incorporate some faux greenery as well. I am loving how realistic THIS faux pine tree looks.
Update November 2020
A few months ago I decided to cut my picture ledge in half and stack them. This winter, I opted for an even more simple holiday look by simply mixing in a cedar wreath with the existing décor.
Thank you for stopping by today and everyday! I hope these posts continue to inspire you as you prep your home for the holidays ahead. Find more holiday décor related posts HERE.
